BHX Combined Flow Closed Circuit Cooling Tower Principle of Operation.

The process fluid to be cooled is circulated within a serpentine cooling coil, which is continually wetted on the outside by the
spraying water system. The heat is transferred by the wall of coil, becomes saturated steam when it meets spray water and air.
Then the heat will be discharged into atmosphere by fan, but water will be collected in the basin by drift eliminator for
recirculated spraying. The temperature of spraying water is reduced by PVC fill. spraying water flows in the same direction as
the fresh air, to cool coil mainly by significant heat conduction way, which is especially suitable to the cases when cooling
tower outlet temperature is much closer to the wet bulb temperature.

 

Notes of selecting a cooling tower as below:
1. The structure materials of cooling tower should be stable, durable, corrosion-resistant, and its assembly should be precise.

2. In the cooling tower,  it should be uniform water distribution, small fluid flow on the wall, the reasonably selected splash device, and it should not be easily blocked.

3. The type of cooling tower water filling should meet the requirements of water quality and water temperature.

4. The fan is should be long-term normal operation without vibration and abnormal noise, and the blades have good water erosion resistance and sufficient strength. The installation angle of the fan blades is adjustable, but the angle must be consistent, and the current of the motor does not exceed the rated current of the motor.

5. Low power consumption and low cost, small and medium-sized steel frame glass cooling towers also require light weight.

6. Cooling towers should be installed away near heat sources, exhaust gas and flue gas generation points, chemical storage areas and coal piles.

7. About the distance between cooling towers, between towers and other buildings, in addition to considering the ventilation requirements between the towers and the mutual influence between towers and buildings, we should also consider the safety distance of building fire prevention and explosion prevention, the construction and maintenance requirements of cooling towers.

8. The water inlet pipe direction of the cooling tower can be rotated at 90°, 180°and 270°.

9. The material of the cooling tower can withstand low temperatures of -50 ºC, but for areas where the average temperature of the coldest month is below -10ºC, it should be stated when ordering so that anti-icing measures can be taken. The cost of the cooling tower increases by about 3%.

10. The turbidity of the circulating water is not more than 50mg/l, and not more than 100mg/l in the short term. It should not contain oil and mechanical impurities. Algae removal and water quality stabilization measures should be taken when necessary.

11. The water distribution system is designed according to the nominal water volume. If the actual water volume differs from the nominal water volume by more than ±15%, it should be stated when ordering so that the design can be modified.

12. During the storage and transportation of cooling tower parts, heavy objects shall not be placed on them, they shall not be exposed to the sun, and attention shall be paid to fire prevention. During the installation, transportation and maintenance of cooling towers, open flames such as electric and gas welding shall not be used, and firecrackers and fireworks shall not be set off nearby.

13. For the design of multiple round towers, the net distance between towers should be maintained at no less than 0.5 times the diameter of the tower body. Cross flow towers and counter flow square towers can be arranged in parallel.

14. The water pump should be matched with the cooling tower capacity to meet the process requirements such as flow rate and head.

15. When selecting multiple cooling towers, try to choose the same model.

2 Q: What is the difference between a "counter flow" and a "cross flow" cooling tower?

   A: The cross flow or counter flow designation characterizes the orientation of the airflow within the heat-transer medium (fill) in the tower with respect to the direction of water flow. In counter flow towers air travels vertically upwards through the fill and makes intimate contact with water droplets falling down through the fill. Hence the air and water travel in opposite directions.
        In cross flow cooling tower, the air passes through the fill medium in a horizontal direction, thus crossing the downward water flow.
        At same situation, counter flow tower are inherently more efficient than cross flow tower.


3 Q: How do you get repair parts and how long does it take?

Inlet water temp. Tempreture of hot water to be cooled
Outlet water temp. Tempreture of cooled water, usually it would be at least 3-4 ºC higher than the bulb tempreture.
Wet bulb temp. Highest wet bulb temp. of the location/area or city to install the tower is essential to know to evaluate the size of towers.
Power supply The standard is 380V/3 phases and we have stock. But for customization, the delivery time would be longer.
